Review : Lumix LX3

July 31, 2012

*

I've always wanted to share my love for my Lumix LX 3 to people. Cecelia asked to share a review on Lumix LX3 and I guess it's time. *PS : Check out her awesome artworks in her blog, she's one of my inspiration! I've been absent-mindedly telling people around me about how much I love my Lumix.

After I've been using Nikon D40 for almost 3 years while studying,  I decided to convert to prosumer camera, read my previous post on why I converted to prosumer camera here. I took months to find a  suitable camera, I read reviews and gave a long thoughts before I bought it. I was a student and buying a prosumer camera was something quite big. I never looked back tho.

Why I love my Lumix LX3?

1. Super easy to use.
One of my problem while using dSLR is the setting. Especially while on an outing activities like weddings, hanging out with friends and family, parties and such. Those precious moments don't usually wait, you can either take out your camera and snap it right away, or you can shout "wait, wait, wait, the settings...", adjust the aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.

Most of the time, people run here and there while taking photos, and you need to readjust it as fast as you can *using auto setting can be considered as cheating - for dSLR user. And if you want to be in the photo and you ask your friend to take it for you, that's another thing to consider.

With Lumix LX3, I put the setting to iA, and I will get the pictures out beautifully. So easy.

2. The size & design.
This camera is a lot smaller and lighter than dSLR. I love the fact that it is easy to bring to places because of the size, I love the texture and retro design, it reminds me of my sister's first camera back when we were young.

*

3. Low light condition.
It takes decent pictures in low light conditions. I don't use built-in flash, I don't even understand why it exists, what it usually does is making pictures look worse than normal. So, with Lumix LX3, pictures can be taken in low lights, there are noise - I can't deny that. But it is decent enough for me.

4. HD Video
I am no videographer, but you can make beautiful videos from this little one.
Try check this one out :

5. Macro!
What is a camera without the ability to take pictures super close? And as a doodler, I love to take the detailed part of my doodle, so close, up until it focuses on the small tip of my 0.1 artline or the super fine paper's texture. Ahh.. The satisfaction to see those textures.

I am serious. You can focus down to 1-2 cm close.

*

All in all, I love my Lumix LX3, I am not a spokeperson for Panasonic, no. I am just sharing my happiness on buying such a great product with you.

But be informed that LX3 is an old model, it was first out in 2008. The latest Lumix LX version is Lumix LX5. Most probably Lumix LX7 will be out in September 2012 *rumours!

PS :
Most pictures in this blog were taken by using Lumix LX3, some rectangular instagrammed photos were taken by using my iPhone.

Food : Ramadhan Buffet

July 29, 2012

*

Hello!

Luckily for this event, we were sponsored to break fast with them at MS Garden Hotel Kuantan, where the event was held. I don't usually dine in hotel to break fast, because I know I wouldn't eat much during Ramadhan month. So a chance to eat as much as possible was not really tempting for me. Ha.

Information :
RM 68 per person - adult
RM 38 per child.
Daily : 7 pm - 10 pm
Date : 21 July - 18 August 2012

I walked around to see what they were offering and I was excited to see colours everywhere. Like I mentioned before, I am not really a food lover. But to see so much colours from foods, that really captured my interest. I took my camera right away to snap photos. Although it was pretty obvious that people were lurking for food to eat. 7.15pm. It was almost break-fast time!

Let's enjoy colours and food fiesta :

Doodle : The Big Journey

July 26, 2012
*

Hello !

*

 Title : Big Journey
Material : Canvas
Size : Huge enough for me
Duration : +2months-

It took quite some time because it was spontanous and large. I knew I want to draw a spaceship/s, I knew I want to doodle something about a journey. So I took the pen and doodled it all the way. There were days when I left it by the wall because I was too uninspired to continue doodling. There were weeks that I ignored it because I was too lazy.

Two years ago I drew this, it occured to me that my traveling thoughts have never left me. Those journey illustrations were indirectly talking about my dream.

I used several artlines to finish this, probably around 4-6 sized S & M permanent marker. Can you imagine inking the background using small sized marker? Well I've done that :)

Doodle : On my wall

July 21, 2012

Hello !

I did a mini project lately : decorating my wall. I know it's a bit crammed but I got a habit of putting many things on one place, just as crammed as my usual doodles that I love to draw :D

Sometimes when people ask me the meaning of all this, I would stop and ponder. I guess I don't have the right answer. It just feels right. It keeps me focus. I let certain things in my life remain unanswered.

My room

This huge one on the left is zamzammee's doodle.

Babushka from my grandmother.

The littlest babushka in the family.

Look above !

I bought this from zamzammee too!

Pink rose.

Ironic badges that say about me.

Huge nose hole.

Little mouse from 2005

Rabbit from past, and pendants as a gift.
*

It's been 2 months, having my own place teaches me several things in life. Practical stuffs like changing broken light bulbs, painting walls, redecorating, paying bills, wiring, daily chores and possibly many more other things. I am still using the broken bed that I've nailed to make it at least decent enough to sleep on. My kitchen is still stiff and unfriendly because I hardly use it to cook foods.

Thank you for this chance, only You know how much I've dreamed about this.

Doodle : Oh doodles me more!

Hello !

I have a habit of taking notes & doodle when I hear or saw any interesting things that I want to remember. As a human, I know I have a brain of a goldfish, I forget things so easily! So I take notes on things in my various notebooks. Quotes, interesting sayings, inspirations, items around me, and such. Here are some of them :

Book : Aleph

*
Hello!

I just finished reading Aleph by Paulo Coelho. I bought this book 11 days ago and decided to read it right away. I read it while waiting for the bus at the bus stop, while I was in the bus, while waiting at the train station, while in the train, after work waiting for my collegue, while having short dinner and before I sleep. Whenever I have free time to spare.

He took the Trans-Siberian train, travelled 9,288 kilometers to find himself. He found answers to his questions, he found peace. I finished reading the book feeling envy and inspired because he had the courage to take the journey. As his saying says : "Travel is never a matter of money, but of courage". I have the same feeling of insecurity towards most of those countries he travelled in those journey as the feeling I have towards deep dark water. I keep imagine those places as cold and dark. The sense of being in the places so different than what I am used to. If I am asked to put my feet in a dark deep lake from the boat, I would probably cry so bad in my heart for being utterly terrified.

He took the journey anyway despite feeling like he made a wrong decision. He found answers, he welcomed his past and mistakes, and he freed himself from the memories of his sins.

“Is it possible to deviate from the path God has made? Yes, but it's always a mistake. It is possible to avoid pain? Yes, but you'll never learn anything. Is it possible to know something without ever having experiencing it? Yes, but it will never truly be part of you.” - Aleph.
You can find many other beautiful quotes by Paolo Coelho's Aleph from here or you can try to read his top 9 travel tips from here considering he travels a lot all his life.

Along with The Zahir and The Alchemist, I recommend reading this book, Aleph too.
