Doodle : The Big Journey

July 26, 2012
*

Hello !

*

 Title : Big Journey
Material : Canvas
Size : Huge enough for me
Duration : +2months-

It took quite some time because it was spontanous and large. I knew I want to draw a spaceship/s, I knew I want to doodle something about a journey. So I took the pen and doodled it all the way. There were days when I left it by the wall because I was too uninspired to continue doodling. There were weeks that I ignored it because I was too lazy.

Two years ago I drew this, it occured to me that my traveling thoughts have never left me. Those journey illustrations were indirectly talking about my dream.

I used several artlines to finish this, probably around 4-6 sized S & M permanent marker. Can you imagine inking the background using small sized marker? Well I've done that :)

Hello !

It's alarmingly addictive to see great arts expanding everywhere throughout the world. If you use pinterest, tumblr, bloglovin, and such, you know you need to have daily doses of colours and inspirations like I do!

When I saw someone shared this needle felted sculpture by Vera Megorskaya from the tumblr, I know I want to share this with my readers too because her works  are crazily detailed and adorable, it worths the share! I would never have the patience to make these :

One-hour with : Da Vinci Machines.

February 25, 2012

*

Hello! Today after work, I went to Da Vinci's Machine Exhibition at the Mines Exhibition Centre (MIECC).  I've been wanting to go here since I saw the large banner in front of the Mines Shopping Fair. Personally, I am a big fan of Da Vinci's invention and I know for sure that I should not miss this. There were lots and lots of machine, one hour visit was not enough!

Ticket Price :
Adult = RM 28
Discounts = RM 18 ( students & pensioners )
Children = RM 15 ( 4-13 years old )

*

There were Da Vinci's reproduced famous artworks like The Last Supper & Mona Lisa, his sketches, other machines designs all the way from Leonardo Da Vinci Museum, Florence! So you should not miss this. I don't think you can get this close to his personal masterpiece exhibition ever again *due to how Malaysian don't really appreciate it much and there wasn't many people visiting this exhibition - as stated by the man at the counter & basic observation.

The famous cryptex.
As mentioned in the Dan Brown's book.

Travel : Bandung 3 : The Art

December 18, 2011

*

*

There were arts everywhere! Hotels, streets, airports, malls, walls etc. It's obvious that they appreciate arts much better than us. I was quite shocked to see everything seems to have some artistic values. Meeting local artist was a bonus for me too.

I had limited time to really explore this side of Bandung. Most places I went to was either malls or one particular place each day. Hope to really explore Bandung one day. The place was quite busy. *had problem to cross the road due to crazy drivers!

Handling Copycats & Imitation.

October 31, 2011

There was a time when I feel threatened by imitation and copycats. It was several years back, when my doodling career just started and I found a lot of my artworks were imitated by several sites.  To be honest,  just like any other normal newbies, I feel threatened and insecure. I was afraid of being pointed as a copycat myself. So, I might handled it the clumsy-whoopsy way.

But several years passed, and I learned a lot since those several incidents.
Since I keep reading about this topic on and off at several other websites/blogs recently, I feel the need to share my experience as well.

Things that I've learned so far :

1. Nothing is original. We artists, tend to imitate from their surrounding. Example : "I can't say this is my original piece", because there might be some little subject in my artwork that was taken from the Kenny Roger's ads I saw at the shopping mall. You will never know where you get the inspiration.

2. Share, but not too much. It's an IT world, anything you say will hit you back eventually. That is the scariest part. You want to be as human as possible. Sometimes you make mistakes. Sometimes people get so angry, they want to boast it on their twitter or blog, well don't. Don't ever post bad things about other people, especially directly. IF some artist copied you, handle it professionally. Contact them personally. Don't write about them, you will destroy their life, their career, and maybe their future. For what? For an image that has been copied. And personally, I loathe reading blogs that condemning & destroying other artists. Just because they are much popular, they have the power to influence others.

3. Don't make enemies. Enough said. We are here to make friends, to share. To lose followers and readers just because of the way you handle things? Well it's not worth it.

4. Stop it with the endless watermarks. Just notify clearly in the website/blog that copying is strictly prohibited. Enough said. Only mindless human can't understand clear statement, and if those case occurred, learn to handle them professionally. Privately.

5. Do what you love, it will inspire you. Instead of making something to please others :) The fire will keep on burning, you will keep on running, you'll be breathless.
